It’s January again…a time for setting goals, starting fresh and re-assessing.  The psychologist in me wants to remind everyone that January is also a time for hunkering down in the cold of winter and finding some peace and relaxation.  The pressure to set lofty goals and “remake yourself” just because the calendar changed is not necessarily healthy for those of us who lean more towards anxiety or self-criticism.  So, yes, while it is never a bad thing to set some small goals for yourself, please don’t feel pressured by social media to judge yourself too harshly.  Set some small, attainable goals that bring you joy and happiness.  Let yourself make slow, gentle changes!

That being said, the business owner in me likes to welcome the New Year with an annual Blog update about what’s new at River’s Bend.  Some of these changes are ongoing and others will be new to 2026.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions about any of the services listed below.   Happy New Year, everyone!

·      Parenting Classes.  I have been running these classes for three years now and they are now recognized by other professionals in the community as an effective intervention for childhood anxiety symptoms – sometimes a parent reaches out who has been referred to these groups by multiple providers!  The positive of these groups is that they are an effective way to begin an intervention for your child much quicker than waiting for over a year for individual therapy.   If you are interested in learning more, click here.  Or, you can sign up for an Initial Screening Appointment here.

·      Ongoing Support for Parents.  New to this year, I will be offering ongoing Support and Consultation to parents how have participated in previous parenting classes.  Thiis has been consistently requested by group members and I will be rolling it out this year.  This means the support does not end at the end of the eight week course!

·      OCD Group Therapy for Kids & Teens.  I am still running OCD Therapy Groups with children and teens.  Youth are grouped by age and gender and receive education, support, and intervention for their symptoms.  These groups are a great way to supplement individual therapy or to receive some support while waitlisted.  To learn more, click here.

·      Adult OCD Group Therapy.  This is brand new to 2026!  I am excited to roll out group therapy for adults with OCD.  This will be an open group that is a combination of ERP interventions as well as ongoing peer/therapist support.  Because OCD is often misunderstood or stereotyped, joining a group of peers can be extremely validating and therapeutic and validating.  If you are interested, send me a direct email here.

·      Trainings and Consultation.  In 2026 I will continue offer trainings to other therapists on anxiety and OCD interventions.  But closer to home, in conjunction with Dr. Alexia Spanos, I will be offering an ongoing consultation group to local therapists who have attended one of my trainings and would like to learn more and receive support in implementation of exposure techniques.

·      Finally, a technological update!  As of the new year, all group services will be offered in a hybrid format, meaning you do not need to choose between attending either in person or virtual groups or classes.  I will provide hybrid support so you can seamlessly interact with other group members from your home.  As always, all of these changes are to reduce barriers and get services to people in Bend more quickly and efficiently!

Happy New Year!!
